Yes but Unity was their first ever desktop environment. So it's not surprising that they've made huge errors.
KDE's interface may be flexible, but for new users, especially after plasma 5, it needs cleaning up.

Thanks to anonprivate and this thread I have one activity that has the homerun launcher widget square in the middle of it.
I use it when I'm going to be using a lot of applications in a short period of time and it just works great.
When I first ran it I thought "This is yet again ANOTHER reason why I run KDE, it is rather like that doofus Unity overlay screen only KDE got it right!"....ahem, as usual! lol
Thanks guys.

Albert
'webupd8' is writing of the Albert:
http://www.webupd8.org
-> http://www.webupd8.org/2015/01/alber...-launcher.html
`ALBERT`: A FAST, LIGHTWEIGHT QUICK LAUNCHER FOR LINUX
`Albert` is a relatively new quick launcher for Linux, which might remind you of Alfred (Mac) or Synapse (Linux). Using it, you can quickly launch applications, open files or perform web searches...
...What makes Albert special is that it's very fast, lightweight and desktop environment agnostic (it's based on Qt5, written in C++), so you can use it with whatever DE you want...
With the Kubuntu Vivid:

That's it!
Yes, that is what I was looking for.Originally posted by kubicle View PostYou can, for example, add a traditional menu widget on the panel and then configure it to only show "Favorites", this will give you an icon on the panel with your "Favorites" applications opening in a menu when you click it.
Thanks!

The "traditional" (or "classic") menu widget is fairly configurable from it's settings.Originally posted by DejanN View PostYet I cant find simple launcher widget for favorite apps (or apps I choose) from single icon with submenu on panel.

The deluge of launchers...
Yet I cant find simple launcher widget for favorite apps (or apps I choose) from single icon with submenu on panel.
Shelf can do it in theory – but not in practice.
In desperation I had to fill folder with shortcuts and than point Folder widget to it.
Now I can start my selected apps in two clicks; can any launcher beat that?

Homerun is very nice, too! It's very similar to the Rosa Launcher. I recall testing them both out in the past, but do not recall which I liked better. See: http://blueleaflinux.blogspot.com/20...a-kubuntu.html (and note that the web page is in Spanish...Google Translate is your friend).Originally posted by MoonRise View PostI use Homerun Kicker now. I've enjoyed it so far. Fits me better than Lancelot or the Default.
<Edit> Well *ahem* *apparently* since I made the Youtube video he's referencing in the blog, I guess I better go re-watch it to see what my thoughts were!
IIRC, Homerun is shown in that video as well...
