The only other USB devices that are plugged in are my mouse keyboard and Wireless headphones, its charger, a steering wheel, and a combination Tripple and double A battery recharger for my mouse AA and keyboard AAA. All of these devices except the AA and AAA charger are from Logitech and the Battery charger is from Energizer.

Same thing this morning. I think it was closer to 34 minutes today.

The SSDs are less than a year old so not likely faulty.

And if it is not the power but the other light, with those symptoms it could also be a faulty hdd or ssd…Last edited by Schwarzer Kater; Apr 09, 2024, 11:13 PM.

The computer took almost 40 minutes to get going this morning! I think this one is most likely an electrical or electronic problem. It POST then boots eventually but the power light was flashing on and off for about 40 minutes. It started booting two times but the power reset before it got to the desktop. Once the desktop booted completely then the power stopped resetting and hasn't reset since. I already checked to see if anything in the case was loose and the power cord and power strip also appear to be fine.

It seems today's update fixed my boot problems. I thought it might be something with the display. Looks like NVIDIA had another screwed-up Linux driver. I guess that SDDM couldn't initialize properly. Hopefully, it stays fixed. I checked I checked the journal file that GRUB2 refers to in the rescue mode and everything appeared good except for the onboard audio which I never use so it doesn't concern me. So it was a head-scratcher until I saw all the NVIDIA driver updates in today's update I clicked on some and saw they had more access to the system. I updated and restarted. it finally worked! Finally after weeks of trying to figure it out.

slightly OT:
LightDM is the default display manager for e.g. Xubuntu (and many other distributions with Xfce) or Linux Mint Cinnamon.
It is not installed in Kubuntu 23.10, because Kubuntu uses the SDDM display manager instead!
Please don't install LightDM - this will very likely only worsen your problems and additionally can break some Plasma functionalities…
