HDMI sound device disappears after successful use

    Operating System: Kubuntu 20.04
    KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
    KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
    Qt Version: 5.12.8
    Kernel Version: 5.4.0-52-generic
    OS Type: 64-bit
    Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor
    Memory: 7.8 GiB of RAM
Motherboard: MSi X470 Gaming Pro Carbon
    GPU: Nvidia 1050

I can start my computer and watch a movie and everything is hunky dory. I can finish watching the movie and do something for 10 minutes and come back and watch another movie and there is no sound. When I click KDE>System Settings>Audio>Advanced I find I have 2 device profiles as I expected. The problem is that the device, GP107GL High Definition Controller, has it's profile set to Off with no option to turn it on in the drop down menu. How to enable to select ON in this dropdown menu. It is definitely there as I just used it 10 minutes prior.

The GP107GL is a HDMI connection and is available immediately after watching a movie but then the profile turns off some time later.

I upgraded another machine to 20.10 and in that case the deice is still selectable but to hear anything you need to change the speaker configuration and then it will work.
