New Computer assembled & installed with Kubuntu 8.10 (64bit)

    New Computer assembled & installed with Kubuntu 8.10 (64bit)

    Hi,

    I'm rather new here at this site & was reading some info. It seems they are also interested here about new compactible hardware for Kubuntu.
    So, I decide to post mine information, don't shoot me if it is posted on the wrong place...
    Well I'm now running mine kubuntu for some months on this brand new PC and it runs verry good

    1.Hardware I did use to assemble mine computer.
    1.Motherboard = Asus P5Q Pro P45
    2.CPU = Intel E8500 775 3166 Wolfendale (2 core)
    3.Cooling units for mine CPU I use: Thermalright ultra Extreme 120 (Mounted on the CPU)
    2 extra fan coolers mouted on the Thermaltake Ultra 120
    Fan Coolers = Tacens Ventus Ice 120x120x25
    4.Hard-Disk = Samsung 1TB Sata2
    5.Ram's I use = 4Gig OCZ (D2 2GB 1150-555 Flex XLC K2 OCZ)
    6.Graphical Card = Nvidia geforce 9800GFX+(OVERCLOCKED FACTORY)
    7.Power suplly = OCZ ModXStream 700W
    8.Case I use = Antec Nine Hundred
    9.Screen = SyncMaster T220 Samsung

    Note:
    a. The networkcard I use is the network card onboard!
    b. For sound, I use also the sound on board. I did connect there an Logitec sound system on! Runs nice 8)

    2. Overclokking mine system:

    Standard runs the computer with this configuration on a 3.16Ghz. But after mine nice overclock I run this to a 4.4Ghz :P :P :P
    This runs verry good and I have also a nice overclock.
    I did run also the torture test with prime95 up to 24Hours, and it is still stable and temperature is also still good.
    Prime95 is windoze software, because I don't know if it exist for linux.... Annyway it is also free software


    Mine Bios Settings I use:

    (THIS YOU CAN FIND BACK INTO YOUR BIOS UNDER THE NAME AI TWEAKER)

    1.AI Overclock tuner = Manual
    2.FSB Frequency = 455
    3.PCIE Frequency = 100 (always FIX at 100!)
    4.FSB strap to North bridge = 333Mhz
    5.DRAM FREQUENCY = DDR2-1093Mhz
    6.DRAM timing control = MANUAL
    CAS# Latency = 5
    DRAM RAS # to CAS# Delay = 5
    DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5
    DRAM RAS# Activate to Precha = 18
    7.CPU Voltage = 1.45625
    8.FSB Termination voltage = 1.30
    9.DRAM Voltage = 2.20
    10.NB Voltage = 1.40
    11.SB Voltage = 1.10

    Notes:
    1.Only use above settings for the same hardware & cooling options. A bad cooling option will destroy your PC!
    2.Don't install the latest Bios Update from Dec.2008 or higher!
    3.With same hardware you should normally be able to do the same! You can also do the prime test to see if it is stable...
