KDE is confused about full screen size

I am running a dual head setup with GeForce 6200 card, 1920x1200 LCD, 1600x1200 CRT and separate X servers. The system is Kubuntu Hardy. The resolutions are correct and the whole screen estate is in use in both monitors.

But here is the problem: on the widescreen LCD KDE is confused about how wide the screen is. If I maximize a window it does not really maximize it but it leaves a bit of free space on the right side of the screen. Full screen modes do the same thing so they are not really usable.

Gnome works fine, so this seems to be an issue with KDE. KDE seems to think that the proper full screen width is 1594 and for example when resizing windows they 'snap' to that size.

Would anybody have any ideas?
