2 gigs of ram
IMB 42.9 GB IDE HDD w/ NTFS
WDC 74.5 GB IDE HDD w/ NTFS
64-bit Kubuntu v6.06 booted from CD
32-bit Windows XP on WDC HDD
The BIOS starts up fine, the HDDs are both detected properly, and WinXP mounts the drives properly. When I start up the CD, the OS loads. Upon running the installation program, I can make it to "step 5 of 6" where the installer detects disk drives. There it sits and eats up cycles. I've waited over half an hour for it to retry or fail, and ostensibly does neither.
fdisk does not function, as the drives are never detected.
mount does not function either.
Is this a common problem?
