i have lucent winmodem
i have installed its drivers for linux, and fixed all the errors according to this forum
every time i try to connect, by any means (kppp, wvdial, pon...) it starts, then cuts
wvdial gives this error

looking up error 16 says that "a modem hung up", why? this modem works perfectly with my xp...
man, i SO need this error fixed, coz i have NO other way to connect net...
