Keep in mind that I deleted FF and started over with a new install and it is showing that FF is my default browser.

    greg@greg-OptiPlex-990:~$ locate firefox-bin
    /home/greg/.local/share/Trash/files/firefox-bin
    /home/greg/.local/share/Trash/files/firefox-bin.sig
    /home/greg/.local/share/Trash/info/firefox-bin.sig.trashinfo
    /home/greg/.local/share/Trash/info/firefox-bin.trashinfo
    /home/greg/Desktop/firefox-bin

Somehow something set up a shortcut that would start a new instance of FF when I had a combination of Numlock and Return. That's really weird. Almost like a virus.

Now it's getting really screwy. When I type in the terminal (locate firefox-bin) or try to use the search function or I think any other time I hit <Return> in Kate it opens a new instance of Firefox.

One other thing to consider is permissions. jlittle's code should help:

    Code:
    find . '!' -user $USER -ls

Is Firefox the only browser on your system?

    Code:
    update-alternatives --get-selections | grep -i browser

I've been getting this for a while. I tried to find where this comes from but gave up. I often leave Firefox open for days or weeks, but when I was booting isos from grub it got annoying.

Googling just found turning off the check via about:config, or reinstalling Firefox.

I got frustrated with FF and completely deleted it and reinstalled it.
It's now saying it is my default browser.

This is not happening on my similar Kubuntu setup but I just had 305 or so packages on my Neon 5.15 setup updated and the above is now happening on that system. Annoying.

Doesn't appear to do so on my end. It still says mine is default browser, although the checking is still check marked.

In preferences it has two lines
    One is...
Always check if Firefox is your default browser
    and the other is...
Firefox is not your default browser

    When I click
    Make Default
it rechecks the Always check if Firefox is your default browser box.

I've got the same setup (OS and FF version) and not having any problems on my end with this.

The OS doesn't list FF as the default app on my setup, I just have it setup as default within FF itself.

Did you check within FF in it's preferences if that was checked to default?

Only thing that I can think of based on above.

started a topic Firefox 65.0.1 default browser?

    Firefox 65.0.1 default browser?

Every morning when I start up FF 65.0.1 it says it's not my default browser and would I like to check and set it as such etc,
I always say yes make it the default and don't ask me again.
The next day it does it again.
I check in the default applications and it is not set as default so I set it to be.
    Next day, same thing.

Is it 18.04 that is not saving this right or FF 65.0.1 ?
How can I make it remember my choice?
