I filed a bug about 6 months ago. When I drag and drop inline png images into Thunderbird, it picks the wrong mime type (txt instead), and recipients sometimes have trouble viewing them.
I tested Thunderbird directly from the Mozilla website, and that works fine. Hence, this seems to be a bug introduced in the Kubuntu package. I haven't had any response at Launchpad.
I was wondering if anyone else sees this bug? Also, since the upstream version from Mozilla works fine, can I just install that, e.g. into ~/Applications. Obviously this prevents it from upgrading through apt-get, but would it still upgrade via its internal code? Are there another issues with installing it this way?
