Non-KDE applications minimized to system tray

I use a few non-KDE native applications. Of these, notably Shutter and Tomboy notes ar designed to hide on your system tray. But how do you access their main window?

Left click and double-click have no effect on these.

For Tomboy notes it appears that all important functions are accessible via the context menu (right-click on the system tray icon) but for Shutter it is not so easy. Once minimized I can take screenshots, but to get to the main window I need to completely quit Shutter and start it up again.

This is very frustrating. Editing and sorting of screenshots are only accessible via the main window in Shutter.
