In Kubuntu 12.4 fcitx chinese input does not work with libreoffice without some configuration.
If you want to get it running properly proceed as following:
Open program manager
deinstall im-switch
install im-config
Open console
type im-config
>window opens
check fcitx and press ok
restart the computer and it will work
