Radeon (Mobility)6550m: Detecting & working on HP dv6 laptop

    Hi All

I have a HP dv6 laptop which has dual graphics available on it:
    - built in Intel
    - Radeon Mobility 6550m graphics card

Upon boot, the kernel seems to bypass the Radeon card as it appears to only accept it as an external monitor (according to the kernel log).
So it loads the Intel drivers and does not seem to do much with the Radeon card (lspci tells me the drivers are loaded, see below).
However, according to my system the Radeon card is currently only as a sound device!

Same with X when I look at x.log. X loads the Intel graphics stuff fine but completely ignores the Radeon again.

So I have this good graphics card which is only being used as a sound card...

Win7 appears to use it fine, according to my son, so it should be installed/working ok.

Any ideas please to get the Radeon as my main graphics for X so the laptop gets a decent graphics rate.

    Thanks

    Andy
