I tried upgrading the - I think - usual manner through Settings->Software Management->Software Updates. It shows the upgrade to oneiric, but before I can click on it, some 'Refreshing Package Cache' and 'Refreshing Software list' applet pops up and when it is done, the upgrade offer is gone and all is back at white and empty in the update field. And this goes round in circles; the 'Oneiric is available'-message pops up and is immediately overlaid by the package operations, and goes again. And when i restart, the same again.
So what's wrong, and would a manual upgrade help? If yes, how to do it?
