I've installed kubuntu 10.10 on a new HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO laptop. Everything works well except the touch pad. The pointer moves randomly around the screen which makes it impossible to use. If I use a standard USB mouse the pointer works as expected. I don't know if this is a kubuntu problem or a hardware problem.
I don't mind using a USB mouse but there are times you need to use the touch pad. Right now I have it turned off because the mouse was uncontrollable whenever you touched the touch pad. I've seen a few postings on synaptics drivers but nothing that describes my same problem.
