View Full Version : Regression in kernel 3.4rc6?

I've been using each RC release of kernel 3.4 without incident -- until now. RC6 appears to cause random lockups. Lockups so hard that magic SysRq can't even recover (and of course nothing gets written to syslog). The lockups occur only when I've got VMware Player running and only when I perform some action outside the VM, such as starting Rekonq or even receiving an incoming phone call on Twinkle. I've uninstalled it and reverted to RC5.

Other details...

* ThinkPad T520
* X Server 1.12 (from Xorg-Edgers)
* Intel Graphics driver 2.19 (from Xorg-Edgers), but not the SNA build (troublesome on this T520, dunno why)
* kernel boot parameters: noop acpi_osi=Linux pcie_aspm=force ipv6.disable=1

Ah, just had another freeze, this time with kernel 3.4rc5. You know, when I nuked-and-paved this T520 to install a clean Kubuntu 12.04, it was something of a struggle to get my Windows 7 VM to run. Maybe I should just create a new VM.

For now, I've reverted to kernel 3.2. Let's see what happens now...
