Cut and paste issues + Konqueror view type

    Hi,

I am used to Ctrl-X and Ctrl+V to cut and paste files and dirs; in Gutsy, it seems that while I can select the objects (when I Ctrl-X, they get a little grayed out) and paste them fine....the original "grayed" out images seems to remained....I wanted a cut and paste option and not copy and paste.

It is quite annoying.....coz I needed to get to the files/dirs and delete the originals manually.

Also, in Konqueror, when I click on the button to view file listings in tree mode, nothing seems to happen. I can view the listings in Tree Mode fine if I go through the menus.

Please assist. Kubuntu seems good, snappy and responsive, with the exception of the mentioned annoyances. And while Dolphin looks good, it is kinda buggy, expected since it's like in Beta....ah well, Konqueror will do more than adequate.

    Thanks.

    Eric

This may seem benign but why not use the right click-> cut with your mouse and ctrl+v anywhere you want?

Well because I am used to using the keyboard....and it is also much faster than using the mouse all the time.

Is this with Dolphin ? It is known problem:

It is beta (it will be allways). From Dolphin File manager
        http://enzosworld.gmxhome.de/
Dolphin is a file manager for KDE focusing on usability.

Dolphin is not intended to be a competitor to Konqueror: Konqueror acts as universal viewer being able to show HTML pages, text documents, directories and a lot more, whereas Dolphin focuses on being only a file manager. This approach allows to optimize the user interface for the task of file management.

The KDE 3 version of Dolphin is in beta stage, but provides already most features for daily usage. Currently Dolphin gets ported for KDE 4.0.

The final version 1.0 of Dolphin for KDE 3 was originally planned for end of December 2006. In November Dolphin got a lot of support from Aaron J. Seigo and it has been decided to port Dolphin to KDE 4 as soon as possible. As there are not enough resources to maintain a KDE 3 version in parallel, the last release of Dolphin for KDE 3 has been 0.8.

        D3lphin 0.9:

As mentioned on the roadmap, no official maintenance release for KDE 3 will be released anymore. But the good news is that Marcel Juhnke decided to do further bugfixing for the KDE 3 version of Dolphin and also included features like a second sidebar. As this is no official release, this project is named D3lphin and can be downloaded at marrat.homelinux.org. Please don't submit any bug reports for D3lphin to the KDE bug database and contact Marcel directly instead.

          Hi Rog131,

No it is not with Dolphin...it happened to me on the Desktop as well...on Konqueror it seems to work ok.

As for the view mode issue, any ideas?

          Eric
