Restoring Dropbox icon in System tray

    Greetings!

I had to reinstall Dropbox due to some problems with memory leaks. That has been solved, but I've noticed that the icon that used to appear down in the bottom right is now gone.

Opening up system activity verifies that Dropbox is indeed running.

I also have the Unity shell on my computer, and switching to Unity displays the Dropbox icon. Switching back to KDE and the service automatically starts, but no icon.

    Suggestion?

    Scott

Are there icons in (path is release dependent)
    Code:
     ~/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-3.0.3/images/hicolor/16x16/status/

Did you look at your System Tray settings?

Right-click on the system tray, then select "Entries" and dropbox should be in there. Mine is set to "Auto" which means it always displays since I leave dropbox running.

anika200 - yes the icons are in that folder.

oshunluvr - just checked and I didn't see an entry for Dropbox in the Entries.

I am not sure it shows up in there, mine is working here and it does not show in the settings.

It is a gtk application if that makes any difference.

I have the same problem. I found that I have to re-install Dropbox to get the icon back.

Is there a recommended way to reinstall dropbox? Last time I just deleted the two hidden directories that contained dropbox files. That is probably what caused this problem!

Wow ok, so it is supposed to be in the system tray settings. hmmmmmm ??
I wonder if it matters what theme or something because the only changes I have to normal kde kubuntu 14.10 are custom icons named compass.

I just noticed I'm using version 2.10.52 and the latest version is 3.2.6. I wonder what the differences are? I'm kinda inclined to leave it alone as it's working fine here!

                        Ha! Release notes say;
                        • Additional fixes for Linux tray icon.

                        Guess you should re-install Scotty...

Well, I went ahead and upgraded. Now I have no System tray icon and it's no longer in the entries!!!

Wow, 3.2.6. is the latest version? I was on 3.0.3, maybe that's the problem! And hopefully you'll get your icon back also!

lol, that will teach you to fear the upgrade. They must have really screwed up the kde integration somehow or another.
My systray icon is still there but the transparency is not working.
                              I am on version 3.03
