KDE thinks sound is playing in Firefox when it is not

I have a tab with Outlook web app open and it plays a sound whenever I receive mail. When it plays sound, the tab in Firefox displays a little speaker icon to indicate sound being emitted from that tab. At the same time, the item on my KDE task manager also displays a little speaker icon to indicate that a sound is being emitted by Firefox. Once the notification sound stop playing, the sound icon in Firefox tab disappears but not the sound icon in the KDE task manager. It's not just a visual thing though; this makes KDE think that something is being played in Firefox and disables the battery saving power management so my computer never goes to sleep. Does anyone else see this? Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

Does this happen only with a notification sound like in Outlook? Does the same thing happen in, say, YouTube when a video is finished?
