Playing DVDs ?

The wife has some yoga DVDs she would like to play in the back room on her computer.
Kubuntu 18.04
Dell Optiplex 990 64 bit.

She's not a computer expert so what she would like is to be able to just put the disc in the DVD payer/burner and have it take off.

I've read some pages that suggest how to do this and tried their suggestions but nothing has worked yet. The closest I have gotten is to put the disc in and open VLC and hit play.
It almost worked but it was all green and weird looking and no audio.

Which said to issue the following commands in the terminal

sudo apt install libdvd-pkg
sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg

Anyone know how to make this work?

It's been a minute since I played any DVDs on my PC, but I have these on it:

I checked both her and my computers and we have all those files installed.
I tried to play her yoga dvd on my computer and got the same green weird flickering picture, but good audio.
I think now that it is a copy protection scheme on that particular disk.

I tried to play a disk that was recorded by a friend of mine and it played fine. No copy protection.
I guess she will just not be able to play that disk.

I did some more reading on the problem and found SimpleBurn mentioned a few times. So I installed that and made a video file on the Desktop that she can just click on and it plays.
She's happy and that makes me happy.

She has 3 of these DVDs so as I rip them I will rename them Yoga 1, Yoga 2, Yoga 3.

I also think you may need to install kubuntu-restricted-extras. I do it as a matter of course so don't remember exactly.
