[DESKTOP] Installing 32 bit Librarys

Steam needs a bunch of 32 bit libs to run. what package do I need to apt install?

Whenever I install steam I just install it from muon or software center and it's fine. Can you explain the process that lead you to the conclusion it needs extra libraries?

you may get the needed libs by installing wine32

Unless your installing the windows version of steam wine is not needed.

you should just need to install steam from your package manager
or the command below should work

sudo apt install steam

Well I could come up with a helpful answer a lot easier if you maybe told me what the message said exactly.

Unless your installing the windows version of steam wine is not needed.

I need both to run both Steam Linux games and the Winblows games that aren't yet ported and older games that probably won't get ported.

I guess you haven't heard that steam has a wine layer built in for windows games on linux.

Well I could come up with a helpful answer a lot easier if you maybe told me what the message said exactly.

You are missing some 32-bit libs. Wine may not run.

Then it listed a bunch of .so files. I tried copying the list but neither the right click menu nor the hotkeys would work so no copy paste and I wasn't going to type all those files by hand... Unless absolutly nessasary.

I am using Lutris gaming so it could be from that. Steam for Windows does not run. Just the wine sever.

I tried Steam play but it will not run Life is Feudal Forest Village. The game says I need a Direct X 11 card. I use the NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 730 which runs Direct X 12! I tried the 2 proton options but got the same error message.

I am using Lutris gaming so it could be from that. Steam for Windows does not run. Just the wine sever.

Lutris is an open gaming platform for Linux. It helps you install and manage your games in a unified interface.
Our goal is to support every game which runs on Linux, from native to Windows games (via Wine) to emulators and browser games.

It looks like they missed their goal.

Uninstall Lutris. Purge it. Clean out every trace and the subdirectories and ~/.wine subdirectory that it created. (This would be easy if you had used Btrfs and had taken a snapshot before you installed Lutris. Then it would take you about 3 minutes to return to a pristine system). Once you have all traces of it removed. Reboot. Then install steam by using the repository.

Simply installing steam from the repository is how I got steam working on my system and my steam games and simulations run beautifully.

Why is it people feel the need to go outside the repository to install things when they haven't fully realized the power of the system and repositories at their finger tips?

The latest version of Lutris was not in the repos when I installed it. Steam was but Steam updates itself later. Steam for Linux was installed before Lutris. Lutris needs Steam for Windows. I might be able to get Steam play working but I have to use NVDIA's repo as the latestest kernel moudule apparantley hasn't been packaged for Ubuntu 18.04 yet or it would have shown up in the update that I did about an hour ago. I prefer to get updates for my system from the system repos since that is usually the best way to get the specific compatablities. Any idea when the video package for NVIDIA will be avaliable since, https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Pro...3.7/PREREQS.md ?
