    [PLASMA 5] /User Experience/ - Preview Indicators when change language and volume level.

    I switched from Gnome to KDE.
    Gnome have a very conveniently preview indicator (e.g. when i switching language or changing volume level) on middle of screen.

    I installed the Kubuntu 18.04. Here not have this preview indicators.
    - If I switch language, I must look on panel for to see a small characters of current language.
    - When I switched volume level, I hear a only sound.

    How can I do the same the preview indicators in KDE?
    I want seen the preview indicators on middle of screen when I switch to other language and when I changing volume level.

    I know the KDE have the preview indicator of volume level, but I have not seen the preview indicator of current language:

    On Screen Display - OSD

    Hmm - the volume OSD is working at here with the X but the Keyboard layout OSD is only working with the Wayland.

    I can't say if this is intentional. In the past the OSD has been raising strong feelings:

    - I hate the new volume osd: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comment...ew_volume_osd/
    - Disable Volume and Brightness OSD in KDE (involves scripting & messing with shortcuts): https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comment..._kde_involves/

    Now there is a way to disable it:
    - Bug 363983 - Add option to hide audio level change OSD popup: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363983
    - [Workspace Options] Add option to disable OSD - https://phabricator.kde.org/D1771

    You may want to file a bug report...

      In login screen not have a optional for choice the Wayland. In my case it's 1 field with password 1 button "login", and four buttons: "Suspend", "Restart", "Shutdown", "Different User". Like here:

      And about the preview indicator of volume level - I don't have it. I hear the only sound.

      More by the way, I have a cursor theme - Breeze. And when I click to any icons, under cursor must have a icon with "bubble-effect" animation. In my case the icon just freeze. In "System Settings" -> "Desktop Behavior" -> "Desktop Effects" all by standard. Maybe is due.

        Optional

        Package: plasma-workspace-wayland - https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/p...kspace-wayland
        Plasma Workspace for KF5 - Wayland integration
        will enable the plasma wayland option:

        Plasma wayland progress: https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Wayland_Showstoppers

        Are you using the optional Kmix ?
        Package: kmix - https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/kmix

        Only the plasma-pa (default) is showing the OSD.

          plasma-workspace-wayland:

          I installed the plasma-workspace-wayland package. The preview indicators all the same not showings. Theme was changed on light, cursor size became a bigger. Keyboard layout characters was changed to keyboard icon. These are all the changes.

          Kmix:

          In the "Application" -> "Multimedia" I have the Kmix program. I can not find a widget with the program. When I click to the Kmix icon, it starts up but after per second it disappears.

          On panel I have a sound icon with "Audio Volume" title:

          plasma-pa:

          I have this:

          Code:
          $ sudo apt install plasma-pa

          Apparently, i my case, the Kubuntu does not work as it should.

          The Kubuntu have the three bugs:
          - preview indicator of keyboard layout are not working;
          - preview indicator of volume level are not working (I hear a only sound);
          - when i starts up program, animation under a mouse cursor are freezing.

          How can I report about this problems?
