    Yes, that's what I mean. I also link to Thunderbird and Mozilla, as they have no trouble being symbolically linked. But I'm going to look into btrfs. That sounds very, very interesting.

      Thumbs up for using Btrfs. It makes doing backups and restorations a snap. Oshunluver has posted excellent tutorials, msgs, etc about Btrfs in this forum. A search for Btrfs will find them. They are worth printing out and keeping

        Great. I've already started looking up his posts.

        As to the non-responsiveness of the keyboard, I may have a preliminary theory. I think it has to do with the new libinput that Gnome and KDE devs have decided to use (which is apparently still Beta quality(?)).

        The problems on my daughter's laptop began with her touchpad's non-responsiveness in 17.04. These problems graduated to the keyboard --- with exact same symptoms. Time will tell if I'm right.
