    17.04 doesn't boot but 16.10 does

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook T5010, Kubuntu 16.10 boots, installs, and runs perfectly on it. When I try to install 17.04 it hangs and never even gets to the installer. I poked around some and was able to get it to boot, install, and run if I disable ACPI, but that solution won't work because I lose my battery status and power management. Any chance anyone else has run into a similar problem and know how to fix it?

    Thanks!

Note: Sorry for any lack of information but I've never posted in here before, I can get any logs or anything else needed to help figure this out.

I have also observed this same behavior on other laptops as well, a Dell Studio 1737 specifically.

Have you considered just upgrading from 16.10 to 17.04 instead of a new install? Not a solution, but a viable workaround.

If you don't want to mess up your current install, just install 16.10 again to a different partition and then upgrade that install to 17.04.
