    A broken screen?

    Hi,

Today I've noticed a black rim around the screen, a dark bar at the top rim of the screen can be noticed, it's bigger than the others rims.
The cursor cannot "touch" the scree rim, apparently there is some 2-3 mm, black gap between screen rim and the display rim.
I'm afraid that I have a broken screen because the same occurs in Windows.
Anyway, is there any thing can I do to test the screen or not?

Oh dear. I don't think there is much more testing possible. The screen LCD seems to be broken. On a positive note this is not the end of the world. Replacement screens for this machine are readily available and won't leave you bankrupt. You get order on amazon etc and have a repair shop put it in.

What simonsaysthis writes is probably true. I noticed you have a secondary NVidia GF117M GPU. I'd try installing the nvidia-378 driver and its dependencies and recommendations and see what happens when you switch to it.
