    KDE nuke on start-up

    Hello!

I've done quite some research and tried a few solutions before posting, and to no avail. Here is my issue: no matter what I do, every time I reboot or even log out of my session and come back, my desktop is reset to "Desktop view" with no widgets, the standard background, and nothing I change gets saved (I want my desktop on "Folder view" mode).
I have tried the solution that pops up on Google with an article name resembling mine, "Desktop settings getting nuked on every start-up", and even tried erasing all the pertinent folders in my home directory. This reset quite a few settings, but still does not let me save desktop settings. It does, however, and has never stopped, save theme settings (window decorations, color themes, fonts, as well as "Desktop behaviour" settings).

Any ideas as to what is going on?

I'm running Kubuntu 16.10 upgraded from 16.04 last week.

    Thanks!
