    Re: Kubuntu Users: Get Counted!

I don't get it unless there is something wrong with the website. It says you can change "ubuntu" after "img/" but I can't. Curses! Here's what I've got but the button still says ubuntu not Kubuntu:

    code:
    http://ubuntucounter.geekosophical.n...php?user=13340

with [/img] at each end of code line.
    What am I doing wrong

        Re: Kubuntu Users: Get Counted!

Really! What's it going to take to get that button to say kubuntu instead of ubuntu? This is what it says on the >Ubuntu Counter>My Buttons page:

        Your image codes

You can now use buttons specific to your favourite Ubuntu flavour. Simply replace the "ubuntu" after "img/" with "kubuntu", "xubuntu", "edubuntu", "nubuntu", "fluxbuntu".

However, please do NOT change the words to call this site anything other than "The Ubuntu Counter"

          Re: Kubuntu Users: Get Counted!

          Hi,

When I created the Counter, the idea was to have a way to see how many *buntu users there are and get Ubuntu into blogs in the form of the buttons.

I really did not want to create different buttons at all, as it created an inconsistant look, but it was the only alternative to having half a dozen seperate statistic lots and hence multiple factors.

The reason all the variant specific buttons still say "ubuntu user" is because users of these variants are still using Ubuntu -- just with a different DE. If I was to change the buttons to say the variant name instead of the project name, it would be a misrepresentation. For example Rocker3358's button in this case would say "Kubuntu User 13356" implying he was the 13356th Kubuntu registrant on the counter website. This would be untrue.

So, in closing. There are reasons, and these reasons are for purposes of site integrity. I have no plans to change the images.

              Testing....oh heck

Well I got it working finally. Neat idea but what a royal pain. Why do you get all that extra code if you don't need it?

                Re: Kubuntu Users: Get Counted!

Thanks!! I got counted!! Great Distro, migrated from Man10.1 to Kubuntu
7.04, and slapped Beryl in on top of that. WoW!!! love the eye candy!
Really like how simple it is to update & install/uninstall software.

                  Re: Kubuntu Users: Get Counted!

I like the tiny graphic, as it doesn't actually list the name on it, just the *buntu logo in the colors correct for the flavor you specify. Added the tiny one to my LJ profile, next to go would be my journal style, website and forum signatures.

                    That's me.

This thing is really easy to hack though. For example I could put the following in my sig:

Look at that! I'm Number One!!!

The BBC code doesn't support alt text from what I understand, so you just have to take out everything but the URL to the badge image.
