Bye the way, I own the game (although I have an AMD card) and I can highly recommend it. It's pretty awesome. Although even if the OP gets the game to run, it's extremely CPU / GPU demanding. Maybe if all settings were on low, but otherwise I wouldn't expect a top-notch experience.

How do I do this for Kubuntu Yakaty Yak? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed so I can see if it fixes my problem.

Launch Muon Package Manager and go into Configure Software Sources (?); you'll find it there..

Muon Package manager does not exist in yakatey yak, or did they change the name? I had thought I could do that like in previous versions of Kubuntu.

It has to be installed, easiest to do from a konsole:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install muon

After figuring all that the game still can't find a GLX display. Of course it could be the firmware is still not installing. That would mean the new kernel is still bugged!

Have you considered asking over on the game's official forums or on the Steam's discussion page for the game?

I could try that, but I figured it was more a system problem. If you think it makes sence then I will try that.

I am still looking to solve this. Since Cities:Skylines doesn't work - it did for years before the fresh install - that tells me there is something missing on my system. I remember the last time I did a fresh install - I think it was when Precise came out - I had to install something to get games to work. I can't remember what that was.

Again, you shouldn't really have to install anything to get an Intel graphics chip to work on Linux. It should just work. And if it does not, your video chip probably can't run this game properly anyway. I have an AMD RX 480 8 GB card and Transport Fever takes every ounce of power that card can muster, especially when you get further into the game and your cities and transport networks grow.
