Will be great -- one day. :]

Had some issues with my 14.04 install on a Dell M6600, so decided to buy a new SSD and try 16.04. I don't see it being stable enough yet for day to day work.

The installation itself went VERY quickly from a USB2 stick, and it came up right away. I began trying to make it look and work like my 14.04 install, including adding an activities pager to the panel, and renaming the activities. Worked OK in the initial account of 1000.

I then created a second account (1001) with Kuser. I began setting it up the same way, but when I rebooted, Plasma crashed, and continues to crash each time I try to open that user account. The base account still works, but even that crashed once on setup. Even the automated crash reporter was unable to provide anything useful to the devs.

I use my machines for real work. 16.04 is not ready for that yet, just like the last major rewrite of KDE wasn't ready either. Too bad they rushed it out the door -- again.

Back to putting band-aids on 14.04 for a while yet, it seems.

    Frank.
Linux: Powerful, open, elegant. Its all I use.
