Kubuntu 14.04 error: no suitable video mode found

Hello, I am new to Linux and booted my Laptop and I am getting an error that says no suitable video mode found. Upon booting I pressed the shift key and esc and was able to do the memory, hard drive, and diagnostics test and all are ok. What do I do next? Thank you in advance

You can start by telling us what laptop you have. Also what happens when it boots does it just go to a terminal or does it just never boot? have you tried any of the boot options for the kernel .. i think for you nomodeset might help

      Welcome. We need more information.

      What laptop Manufacture and model?

What video card or GPU does it have (Intel, nVidia, ATI, ?) and does it also have on-board graphics?

Did you try 14.04 before installing it -- booted from a Live DVD/USB -- and did it work properly?
