Headphones unrecognized && Internal microphone doesn't work

    Hello

    • First problem - Headphones:
When I listen to something from speakers and I connect my headphones, music still comes out from speakers and there is not audio in headphones.
    • Second problem - Internal microphone:
Internal microphone doesn't work. I've already tried with Skype and Hangout, but the the listener cannot hear me.

I hope you can help me.

Without any specifications about your hardware, not much to go one.

you can try ,,,,,,,,, rite click the speaker icon in the system tray>audio setup>audio hardware setup tab>and try to adjust the sound card and output devices .

I do not find this control module very intuitive so I usually install "pavucontrol" (PulseAudio Volume Control) ,,,,,,,,,
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install pavucontrol
after installing you will find it in the multimedia section of your menu ,,,,,,,,try using it to set your input's and output's

      you can also use
      Code:
      pactl list sources
to see if the system is even seeing/using your hardware ,,,,,,,it should be as your speakers work.

Thank you Vinny, but in this way I must switch the audio exit everytime I connect the headphones....by the way, the microphone still doesn't work

please show the output of both
          Code:
          lspci
          and
          Code:
          pactl list sources
microphone ,,,,,,,,,IF you have pavucontrol open and on the "input Devices" tab ,,,,,,,,do you see anything ?

if you do see something are the volume sliders grayed out ,,,,,,,if yes un-mute by clicking the speaker icon in the pavucontrol window ,,,,,,,,,,,and is the correct input selected in the drop down list @"Port" line.

Regarding "input Devices" , I see as input port "microphone" that is already un-muted.....but, at this point, why does not work? Maybe is it a drivers problem?

            PS:
I've tried to translate italian words in the codes, I hope I didn't forget anything...

An observation I had with an Asus netbook, to use the headphones it helped to boot with the headphones plugged in.

Now this particular problem happened 2-3 years ago and with a later distribution it was fixed, still worth trying.

After every boot, audio is automatically setting up outgoing from speakers, even though the headphone is plugged in
