Dolphin [or others] file type detection?

A couple years back, I wrote myself a servicemenu that reads the md5sum of ISOs and sends it to the notifier (which no longer has any history AFAICT, but that's another issue).

However, for some reason lately I've noticed Dolphin appears to be mis-detecting some ISOs as text files so my check menu isn't available. I've tested this with several ISOs of various sources. All the *buntu variants seem to be detected correctly, but many others are not. Can anyone else confirm or disprove what I'm seeing. It seems obvious the Dolphin is the issue because it also displays the wrong place-holder icons for the files. You can see the ISO icon or a TEXT FILE icon in the Dolphin preview window. Here's what I mean:

Bug 346804 - kmimetypefinder incorrectly detects some ISO files as 'text/plain' type, while other ISO files are detected correctly: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346804

--> Bug 337035 - KDE does not play well with shared-mime-info after update from 1.2-2 to 1.3-1. "Breaks" .iso files (.txt file icon / behavior).: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337035
