    [SOLVED] GIMP "Line Nova" problem

I'm having a problem with the "Line Nova" filter in the GIMP. I've looked online and found the same issue bug-reported, but I haven't seen a solution that works for me. I'm using:

Filters | Render | Line Nova

and regardless of which colors I set my foreground and background colors to, when I apply the filter it's rendering the result in black; there is no color option within the filter itself.

I'm trying to replicate a banner I created about five years ago (I need a new version at a specific, larger size), but it's just not working out. Any ideas on how to render the effect in a color other than black?

FWIW, I've tried replacing the black with some other color, but this isn't working well because not all of the black gets selected (via the "Select by Color" tool); different shades of it are left behind, and the resulting image is ugly!

If anyone wants to see images to help illustrate what I'm talking about, let me know.

This seems to be a bug/feature in Gimp 2.8. See this thread for a discussion: http://gimpforums.com/thread-line-color-in-line-nova
There is a possible solution in the thread to comment the line (gimp-context-set-defaults) in the script. This works and makes it possible to use other colours than black. It is possible that the solution could have some side effects though.

Another solution is to install the Line Nova GT script that seems to be an improved version. It has the function to use colours and also some nice additional features such as the ability to use gradients instead of colours. Line Nova GT can be downloaded here: http://gimpscripts.com/2014/10/line-nova-gt/
I installed it globally by copying the .scm-file to /usr/share/gimp/2.0/scripts/ (with sudo of course). It resides under Filters -> Render -> Line Nova GT

Thank you, pavel! I'm going to take a look and see if either of the above will do it for me.

ETA: The first option did not work for me. The second, however, did!
