    Anki crashes hangs

I use Anki for learning English.

It crashes or hangs very often.
On Anki support forum they claim it is a problem with qtcurve.

Here are some more crash reports:

Can anyone confirm if it is really qtcurve problem? I'd prefer not to change system version because of one program, but I can't have new version of qtcurve without doing it.

    Edit:
I changed qtcurve to exygen but it keeps hanging.

    Any ideas what causes it?

    It works fine here.
What version of Kubuntu do you use? What version of qt do you have installed?

      Kubuntu 14.04 64-bit

      qtcurve: 1.8.14-3
      kde-style-qtcurve: 1.8.14-3
      gtk2-engines-qtcurve: 1.8.16-2
      kwin-style-qtcurve: 1.8.14-3

Anki is python application. I wonder if it is a problem with qtcurve or gtk2-engines-qtcurve.

It is python, but uses qt bindings for the ui, so it is not the qtcurve-gtk theme.

I could not get the version available in them repos for 14.04 to crash or freeze, but honestly I did not use it very much, mostly twiddles some knobs and stabbed some buttons in a vm.
Nothing in your gdb sessions even mention any style element,m so you may have a different bug, especially as it happens using the official, stock KDE oxygen style. (though qt doesn't itself use that, necessarily)

I noticed that the problem occurs only when in qtconfig I choose QtCurve as a GUI style. When I choose GTK+ as a GUI style there is no problem (while still having in system settings qtcurve as interface style and and qtcurve as GTK2 style).

You say that it is not qtcurve-gtk theme. Is it caused by the way qt4-qtcurve uses QtCurve theme?

          I reported a bug against qt4-x11
          https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...1/+bug/1495274

I suspect that qt4-qtcurve is the source of the problem not qtcurve theme itself because other apps like Dolphin don't crash when I choose qtcurve in qtconfig. But I am not sure if I correctly identified the package that causes the problem.

I wish I could set QtCurve as a GUI style in qtconfig because I want to use qtcurve in all applications, at least until next LTS.
