    Kubuntu 14.10 frequent FREEZES

    Hi folks,

I got kubuntu 14.10 (plasma 4) installed on a box equipped with gigabyte z87n and a celeron g3220. No discrete graphics, and one samsung 840 ssd.

Now, frequently, my system freezes unexpectedly and unpredictably. By saying freezes, I mean *completely*: mouse pointer does not move, and even switching to a text console is impossible. All I can do is hard reset.

Note that I also have xfce, but my machine freezes up even during xfce sessions, so I don't thing this is a graphical environment issue.
Also, I checked my memory, and it is OK..

    Any help would be great..

    Thanks in advance.

Are you getting any error messages in dmesg? Sounds like hardware to me, overheating maybe, power supply going bad?

Have you tried running other (live) OS sessions on it? What does a session of regular Ubuntu do? What does Microsoft Windows do? Any older Linux distro's?
