water paint, splash, brushes GIMP where to get

    Hi,
I just noticed over at Deviant art that there are a couple of fellows who have developed "water splash" or "water paint" brushes, however, I can't seem to figure out how to install them. I have everything that is in the repos. Any ideas?

Just extract to the brushes folder in ~/.gimp-2.8/
    They look pretty.

The asl files are photoshop files and I am not sure how to convert them for use in gimp.

water paint, splash, brushes how install GIMP

        To install:

Download the file and extract it to a subfolder. Mine was in downloads.

        a) Go to home folder and in Control tic "show hidden files".
        b) One will see some light blue coloured folders.
        c) Find the one labeled: ".gimp(with version number) and the number of items.
        d) click it to open and one sees a variety of folders, find the one labled brushs
        e) In my particular case I had "0 items.
        f) Split Dolphin and open in one of the panes, the brushs folder.
        g) In the other pane navigate to the folder where the file was downloaded and drag the extracted folder into the brushes folder. I copied it just in case something went wrong.
        h) close Dolphin
        i) open GIMP and navigate to Windows/dockable dialogs find brushes and click it.
        j) One will observe, in the dialog box, the default brushes and between the brushes for spheres and splat/sponge/square one will see the splash brushes.

If one has downloaded another brush set, of course, the brushes will be elsewhere, arranged alphabetically.

if there are questions, please ask.
