[SOLVED] QApt worker.

Hi,

Just trying to use Muon Update for a whole bunch of upgrades this am when Moun crashed. So retried and got the following:

It appears that QApt worker has either crashed or disappeared. Please report a bug .........

I tried a system restart but no change so what do I do to rectify this little 'bug'?

Have you tried upgrading in the terminal?

Try

sudp apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

and see if that works.

Got this error on retrying Muon:

The package system could not be initialised, your configuration may be broken.

If muon is broken try purging it and re-installing. You don't need muon to update, it's just a nice GUI.

I've lost my 'Linux' hand-book (decorating) have I got this right if so you can see the result?

Hmm, try these commands:

sudo mv /var/lib/apt/lists /var/lib/apt/lists_old
sudo apt-get update

Then try the purge again

Well your last worked although after the 'purge' Moun was still there so no need to reinstall - or does 'purge' do other than 'remove'? Having said that I did do 'sudo apt-get -f install' when prompted below.

You should be OK to remove the old lists now. I suggested move (mv) in case we had to recover.

sudo rm -rfv /var/lib/apt/lists_old

does 'purge' do other than 'remove'?

remove uninstalls packages but leaves configuration files behind. purge uninstalls packages and deletes configuration files. Generally, purge is preferred because it keeps your system cleaner.
