13.04 PPC not booting G4 Flat Panel iMac

    Yeah, I'm serious.

FWIW, Ubuntu 6.06 booted live CD mode and ran fine on the same hardware (all except my SMC USB wifi dongle that was made a few years after 6.06 was dropped!).

Flat Panel iMac, PPC G4 700 MHz, 512 Meg ram.

I know to press and hold the C key to boot from CD.
I know the optical drive works fine for commercial CDs.
    I burned a verified ISO (MD5SUM matched).
I burned using K3B in Kubuntu 12.04 on an AMD dually.
The disc I used was a Sony DVD+RW mini disc. I burned at the slowest speed possible, that burner has not made a coaster from anything but DVD-RWs, it burned Antix to the very same disc and all booted fine. This PPC burn was "Success" according to K3B.

I held the C key flawlessly from the hardware power on chime until I saw the Apple symbol show up on the white screen, which would not happen if Kubuntu was booting.

10 minutes later, the internal optical drive is still trying to read the disc - I can hear it chi-chip-chipping along.

The hardware might not be compatible with the DVD+RW media? Not enough RAM?
