    Yeah, for a moment I worried that he'd actually follow through with his desires to perform display fellatio, and post the photos! I'm glad he resisted the temptation, strong as it obviously was.

      Code:
      Welcome to Ubuntu 13.04 (GNU/Linux 3.8.0-21-generic x86_64)

       * Documentation:  https://help.ubuntu.com/

      5 packages can be updated.
      0 updates are security updates.

      New release '13.04' available.
      Run 'do-release-upgrade' to upgrade to it.

      Here's the fix:

      sudo rm /var/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/release-upgrade-available
      sudo /usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/release-upgrade-motd

        What? The "bug" is left-over crud? Sigh.

            I have had to fix two things (so far):
            1. To prevent the X server freezing I have had to set OpenGL grahics to "Native" (was "Render").
            2. To get desktop indexing working again I have had to delete the akonadi transaction file for each user.

              I just successfully upgraded a my quantal VirtualBox guest to raring. It did take some time, but I didn't have to fix a thing.
              A big thumbs up for that!
