    Toshiba Satellite c655 networking

    Kubuntu 10.4 installed side by side with Windows 7

    Neither the wired nic or the wireless work. I've been looking for solutions and see that some folks have had success dumping network manager for wicd, probably doable if I had a cd burner on a connected machine.
    lsmod shows ath9k loaded and ifconfig -a shows the wlan0 but not eth0
    mousing over the network manager tray icon shows a blurb "Unknown State Fix Me clicking on it shows "Network Management Disabled"
    What now? Fresh install so kernel source is not installed.

    OK I got the network manager working, but scaning shows no wireless networks. I can conect to several in Win7

      Hi....

      Out of curiosity, what does "lspci," show the two network devices to be? I'm wondering if this is a driver issue.

        Re: Toshiba Satellite c655 networking

        lspci listed both as atheros the wired nic needed a proprietary driver and the wireless needed

        GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi=ht"

        in /etc/default/grub
