    Toshiba Satellite U405D-S2852

My mom recently bought a Toshiba Satellite U405D-S2852 notebook PC. I didn't have time to research it, or I would have advised her to buy something else. When I ran the Kubuntu 8.04.1 64 bit live CD on it over the weekend, I found that it booted, but detected NO networking devices. Not even the wired NIC.

So how can I get Kubuntu to support the particular networking devices in this Satellite? She's mostly interested in wireless networking. I've run Kubuntu Live CD/DVD on other, older notebooks before (Dell Latitude D610), and had the wireless networking Just Work automagically, but no such luck this time.

I could also use advice on how to get the screen set up correctly. Kubuntu's Display gadget doesn't recognize the display device in the Satellite, so I was stuck with a stretched 1024x768 picture. The display's native resolution is 1280x800 (WXGA). It's probably just a matter of fussing with xserver.conf, but I'm not sure where to start.
