Hi,

Since several months or maybe even a year my laptop would suddenly loose the KDE panel and the only way to recover the system would be a hard shut down.
This would happen more and more often.

Now I found a solution, normally I'd have Psensor running but once it is off the computer regains its normal Linux stability.
To be sure and because I hardly ever looked at it anyway I uninstalled it.

Hello
I bought a new mobo since my other one was causing data corruption issues while writing to the HDD for years.
Changing the SATA port and changing HDD, and changing the SATA cable itself did not help, so I bought a new
ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II

https://www.asus.com/motherboards-co...-plus-wifi-ii/

My OS
Kubuntu 24.04, it is always up to date

Booting up from complete power off is never a problem.
Shutdown is never a problem. It completed the shutdown and the PWR LED goes off.
I never use sleep mode.
If I do a reboot, quite often, it does the Kubuntu shutdown process and when it looks like it is suppose to give a black screen and show the first POST screen, it just stays on a black screen.
Pressing the Reset or PWR button does nothing. Pressing the PWR button for 30 s does nothing.
I have to cut the power from the Power Supply.

Then it boots up just fine.
I am wondering if this is RAM related. My RAM was at DDR4 3200 MHz. Should I reduce it?

BIOS
I have applied the BIOS version
3636
which is from 2026/01/28

Thanks!

When testing Trash: Emptied the sound plays. But when actually emptying the trash, no sound is played. This is of course, not really a big deal, but I'd like to know why, when a sound is specified, it doesn't play when the trash is being emptied.

I am trying to set up a simple remote session, and looking at ideas on the internet Kubuntu 26.04 users demonstrate a setting I just do not have on any of my 3 machines with Kubuntu 26.04. It is supposed to reside in settings>system>remote. I have no such setting in any of my installs. Is it because I did a minimal install and removed all snaps?

This is what I have - no remote option.
