    New Kubuntu KSplash theme

I just released a sleek and sexy new Ksplash them to go with my Kubuntu KDM theme. It uses the very cool Moodin engine and is a bit different than the usual splashes. I made it exclusively for Kubuntu users.

It has been tested for 1024x768 res only for right now, but I will update with higher res versions in the next day or so. My laptop doesn't handle these higher resolutions and I can't test it. Though, there are several people who are reporting no problems at higher resolutions.

Be sure to compile the latest Moodin before trying to use this. More info about that on KDE- look.

You can grab it at here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=29426

Tha matching KDM theme is at: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=29331

Please let me know what you think.

          Thanks for the comments guys.

For those with older versions... I updated it to 1.4. This fixes an issue with Crystal SVG iconset and potentially others as well. I Also previously tweaked the position of the icons and text and added a new default background, the latest version is much improved. Be sure to grab it.

                  I think it looks great.

Just one point: any chance of getting rid of the exclamation mark after the username? I find that most people over use it.

                  From dictionary.com:
                  • An abrupt, forceful utterance: an exclamation of delight.
                  • An outcry, as of protest.

After the first time, we don't really need exclamations of delight at being logged in

You can remove the exclamation mark from your theme.rc. Just find the following line and delete the exclamation mark:

                    Label2 = Welcome ML:USER:loginname!

                        Re: New Kubuntu KSplash theme

How do you install or compile Moodin?

(using .deb file I'm getting errors saying kdelibs4, libqt3c102-mt, libxrender1 not available or if I compile an error occurs: c .... not found in $PATH)

If I try compiling in KDE3.5, would it matter?

                        thx.

                          Re: New Kubuntu KSplash theme

To compile and install do this for the compilers:
                          Code:
                          sudo apt-get install build-essential
You may need some KDE header files...
                          Code:
                          sudo apt-get install kdelibs4-dev
                          Then untar the tarball etc,

                          Then run configure
                          Code:
                          ./configure
                          Then make it:
                          Code:
                          make
                          We need root to install:
                          Code:
                          sudo -s
                          Then:
                          Code:
                          make install
                          ~ Patrick

Hmm, done all those, get to ./configure and hit this:

checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!

Obviously I am missing a dev package, but which one?

I was looking to install the kdm theme as well, but the how to install kdm theme on the kde-look website says:
                              # Download and unzip the theme archive.
                              # Put the theme folder in ~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes
                              # Edit your ~/.kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc
                              # Change or add the line Theme=~/.kde/share/apps/kdm/themes/"THEMENAME"
                              # Restart KDE
                              # Have fun! :-)

I don't have a ~/.kde/share/apps/kdm diretory, and hence don't have a kdmrc file. Do these instructions apply to kubuntu?
