    Gmail Messenger

Hi as everybody might know reading from slashdot or the spanish verison barrapunto gmail has official announced their new instant messenger, which im using right now while i writing this unfortunetly there is no linux and mac version yet, it format it jabber and it comatible with ams, ICQ and AIM, if you have a gmail account, you automatically have a google-talk account, chek out this page.

    http://www.google.com/talk/otherclients.html

I want a Linux version. !!! fortunetly we got a chance, look what i found on google talk page:

Platform choice means that you can connect to our service using the operating system and device of your choice. Google Talk enables platform choice by letting users of other operating systems connect to the Google Talk service using other IM clients.

Any another IM client supporting Jabber will support GMessenger too. As for the voip, we have to wait for Google to release a Linux version of its client.

I can connect via Kopete but it's Jabber doesn't have voice chat like most of the other Jabber clients.

        Re: Gmail Messenger

I really need to buy a mike so I can try out this jabber stuff. I already got a gmail account so there's half the puzzle right there. If I buy a mike do one of you guys wanna try this jabber doohickey out with me? It would be like soup cans and kite string to me. I'm that GNU to this stuff...

me, "hellooooo?! hellooooo?! (tap tap tap) anyone there?"
you, "hey dufus, take the mike outta your mouth. It sounds softer and clearer that way, and my ears don't bleed over here..."
        me, "hellooooooo?! Who said that?!..."

...you get the idea. By the way, I heard kopetey has webcam support now so I'm gonna try that out in a week or two. Man I love this kubuntu. It just keeps getting better by the day, like my pouch full of home brew beer sitting behind the fridge. It tasted really skunky at first, so I think I'll call the next batch KDE 3.2 or something.
