nope.it doesn't. you got a few options:
1) Install a 32bit version of your browser and install the flash plugin onto it (You'll need to edit their install script, look for "arch" and change it from i[3][4][5][6]86 to x86_64)
2) I hear the opensource alternatives are coming along nicely... Don't remember which one's considered to be the best.
3) Whatever you do, please, BOTHER MACROMEDIA ABOUT IT!!!

Actually, 64-bit Konqueror can use 32-bit plugins.  Really!

Grab this tarball http://web4.138118.vserver.de/konqueror32-3.4.1.tar.gz
(despite the 3.4.1, it works fine in 3.4.2 for me)

mkdir flash64
cd flash64
tar xvzf ../konqueror32-3.4.1.tar.gz
sudo ./setup.sh

Then restart Konqueror and go to Configure Konqueror -> Plugins. Make sure the folder where you have flash installed is in the Scan Folders list, then hit Scan for New Plugins.  Check the Plugins tab to ensure that the flash player is installed.
Then you're good to go!

The script is for gentoo.  If your 32-bit libraries are somwhere other than /usr/lib32 you may need to modify it, and if your $KDEDIR isn't /usr/kde/3.4 you'll need to modify it.

incidentally: You still need to install the flash player first the usual way. To avoid warning about x86_64 unsupported, just use linux32 to run the flash installer, like so:
linux32 ./flashplayer-installer

In Kubuntu64 5.10, Flash works by default in Firefox after an apt-get install firefox

no it doesn't. I had kubuntu 64bit and that's one of the major reasons I'm now with kubuntu 32bit.

...unless you did something special... which you claim you didn't... so it doesn't

I wouldn't want to challenge your great sense of logic .

Just in case you were right in some way, i've doublechecked the md5 of iso i used and it definately is the DVD version of Kubuntu 5.10 for 64bit systems released a few days ago.

So all i can say is that on my system & without installing any extension or doing any other manipulation related to getting flash working on firefox, it works . I have other much more embarrassing issues than that with this version of Kubuntu though.
Maybe the official belgian Kubuntu ftp servers provided me with a customized version of firefox, but i wouldn't bet on that .

well... it would have been more accurate to do a "uname -r" to make sure that the system you're RUNNING is 64bit...

Can you please check firefox's "help" -> "about" and check the bottom part to see to which arch it's compiled? Maybe kubuntu put an i686 firefox (which would have made total sense.. really) so that i386 plugins would work on it...

Sounds too good to be true...

Like most others, I installed 64-bit Firefox from the Kubuntu64 repos and flash won't work. Blackdown Java works nicely, but still no flash.

I recently installed 32-bit Flock and flash installed easily and works well with that, but Flock crashes too often on my 64-bit system to be a reliable alternative.

My hope is that there will be either 64-bit flash, or an open source alternative available soon. I'd rather get the most out of the 64-bit install than tweak it to allow 32-bit apps, and a chroot environment is a hassle.

After associating flock with 32-bit pango under libs32 with an executable script, flock is very stable and useable-- and flash works lovely. A nice occasional alternative to my flash-challenged 64-bit firefox.
