Just a thought, no bug - K-Menu a bit messy

Hm, any plans to improve the K-Menu entries?
If seen better menus in debian and suse.

I've seen the little sub-menu next to the K-Menu but I don't like it. So:

KDE Control Center missing (just the thing under before mentioned System, using konqueror). Oh, kcontrol in a console opens it...
K Menu Editor not there (could not find it)? Oh, kmenuedit in a console opens it...
No direct link to konqueror (root mode)
No direct link to konqueror (only in this new sub-menu, cannot add it to the taskbar with the taskbar build in function...)
The K-Menu - sub-menus SYSTEM and UTILITIES are totally unstructured (and no KDE Menu Editor with a simple click as mentioned).
Why not grouping e. g. editors (top level for me, as debian), log-in related stuff, user-group management, pim (Palm, alarm, appointments), printing, etc. .

It's not userfriendly to have everything in two big menus. Hiding the k-menueditor on the one side and leaving everything unstructured on the other side does not make sense IMHO.

As said, just a thought, but it currently looks a bit as it would lack loving.

    helge

BTW (k)ubuntu breezy i386; fresh netinstall from early September but totally up-to-date as of today.

KDE Control Centre has been replaced by System Settings in Breezy

Just right click the menu and hit "Edit Menu"

Konqueror can be added to the panel by right click -> Add app to panel -> Konqueror

      Thanks Patrick,

KDE Control Center vs System Settings:
Well, I had found that, but I prefer the control center. There you had the tree at left and details at right. That's easier to navigate/oriantate. (What has my file tree (at left after clicking on system settings) to do with the system settings)

      Edit-Menu:
Thanks again, didn't know that. That's indeed an improvement.

      Konqueror:
OK, I was unclear on this. I meant the filesystem mode of konqueror (that's where you every here and then need the root mode).
It's moved to the system menu next to the K-Menu. But because of that you cannot select it by right-clicking on the panel -> Add to Panel -> Application. You can only select K-Menu entries by that.
I use KDE since V 1... and so I might be a bit unflexibel to adopt new things, but why always change? The system menu will be replaced in my panel by the konqueror/filesystem mode icon. That's the only one, you will need, once the system is configured. The rest is not important enough to force 2 clicks to open konqueror rather than one when it is in the panel directly.
OK, everybody has her/his own opinion on this, but the fact that konqueror (filesystem) is no longer in the K-Menu (and if only in addition) will make it difficult for newcomers to add it to the panel.

        Konqueror is under "Internet"

For file-management click on the System menu which should be near the KMenu and click the "Home Folder" one (any)
