How to rescue my Kubuntu
I have kubuntu in /dev/hdb8 and was using the grub boot loader.
After changing the boot loader into XOSL my other distros are working but I could not boot kubuntu.
How to rescue it?

Re: How to rescue my Kubuntu
which distro handles the grub menu (which one provides /boot/grub/menu.lst)? Go into that distro, and edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst to include kubuntu. This way is permanent.
Quick, non-premanent fix: I believe the key "E" allows you to edit commands before booting, try to edit another linux boot line and change it to Kubuntus /dev/hda8 (hd0,7) for a quick, not-permanent fix.

Re: How to rescue my Kubuntu
By default Kubuntu installs grub on the MBR of /dev/hda.
So I had been using grub of Kubuntu only and I could not edit it from other distros.
Not only that, because of my meddling with the file system, I lost my slackware, pclinuxos distros also.
Hence I reinstalled pclinux in a spare partition and moved the data from slackware, kubuntu and the earlier pclinuxos distros.
Is there any way to mount grub other than on the MBR ?

Hi,
You should find what you're looking for in wiki, search for grub, there's a few...
Cheers
