printer config kubuntu vs ubuntu

Ok, outta curiosity I ran ubuntu live cd. connected to my home wireless router, added my wireless printer and for the first time ever I've been able to run the scanner (printer/scanner all in one) by wireless. kubuntu has never worked for scanning by wireless.

Currently running kubuntu QQ, fully up to date as of this evening
vs
Ubuntu QQ daily live session downloaded this evening.

As an attempt, I installed simple scanner onto my kubuntu QQ, but it says no scanner available.

Is kubuntu and ubuntu using different wireless printer drivers?
They both identified the same.

I can't speak about wireless because I don't use it but I will say that Kubuntu does not have networked scanning enabled by default. Maybe that's the difference. I doubt the scanner software cares if your connection to the scanner is wired or wireless.

Try comparing /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and /etc/sane.d/net.conf in both distros and see if they differ. my installation I have to enable the "net" driver in sane.d and add my server hostname (or ip) to net.conf.

did you install "hplip-gui ?
my HP-deskjet-3052A would not do wireless scanning ether until I did !
or use the web interface !!

Yes. Hp wireless printer scanner. I've tries the default printer location as well as the printer ip way to go.
Yes. Hplip-gui is installed. Still won't scan wireless in kubuntu.

Can't figure out why ubuntu does ootb.
