    No image dimensions in dolphin

since upgrading to kde4.8.1 I can't see the image sizes (dimensions) in the right (info) panel anymore.
How can I get that information back?

I have a lot of images for websites and advertising layouts.
That is always handy information to have at a glance.

someone over at KDE-Forum suggested that that info only shows with nepomuk enabled and the files indexed.
Did that, + 44000 files indexed.

    Still no dimensions.

Also this doesn't seem to work with the new dolphin:
    kde-service-menu-kim.

Is there a new version for this somewhere?

If you mean the size of a file on disk, then go to View menu then pick additional info click size.

If you mean the size of an image(like 1024x768) don't know if Dolphin has ever been capable of showing that info.

A workaround:you can open directory with GwenView it can be set to show image dimensions. Even open image for editing in Gimp if need be.
Ok, got it: Ashes come from burning.

Dolphin used to to the dimensions (350x450) before 4.8.
I have some 300 images in some of my folders. Going into gimp or gwenview for each one is not an option.

According to the developer, that feature (viewing meta-data) had to be re-done and should be ready for Dolphin 2.1.

Never paid any attention to it... so that is how they made it faster in 4.8.
It is not what you want exactly but you can use GwenView to browse image directories.

            Exif tools

            KDE 4.3 (?) - KDE 4.7.4

The exif information of the image dimensions was read and presented in the information panel and in the preview/tool tip screen.

            Old tricks should work...

http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthr...-Dolphin/page2 and there the "Exif information context menu".

Seems to work with the Kubuntu 12.04B2 / KDE 4.8.2 .

            Tell a bit more

Thanky masterscribe. Got kim to work. show_exif_information.desktop was made but is too cumbersome. Will wait for dolphin 2.1

Scratching a bit more ... Dolphin

Bug 193592 - no picture dimension information anymore in dolphin sidebar and tooltips
                An old bug report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=193592

                Solved (KDE 4.5) with the:
                Peter Penz 2010-02-26 19:03:17 UTC

Show meta information also for files, which are not indexed (or in the case if Nepomuk is turned off).
                Kubuntu 11.10 / KDE 4.7.4

With the KDE 4.7 the image dimension metadata is shown without the Nepomuk indexing.

                Kubuntu 12.04B2 / OpenSuse 12.1 / KDE 4.8.2

With the KDE 4.8 the image dimension metadata is only shown if the image has been indexed with the Nepomuk.

This seems to be fixed with the 4.9

                  With the Dolphin 2.0.95 (Neon)

                  The Image dimensions are shown

                  The KDE 4.9 / Dolphin: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.9_Feature_Plan

DONE Dolphin Allow to show any kind of metadata like ratings, tags, comments, image-sizes, music-artist, ... beside each item of the view.
