HP G62 - Sound Problem

Hi guys, I've just installed Kubuntu and I don't have any sound at all. When I run lspci i get the following output for 'Audio device':

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05)

I also have one software problem, but I plan to ask here, so I don't have to make topics in both 'software' and 'hardware' sections. I cannot configure my xampp. I follow the instructions:

but when i try to make the first step i get "su: Authentication failure" just after i was asked for the password ... but i'm pretty sure that i entered it right

I'll be very thankful if you help me with the things.

Welcome! Please take a look here first. In case making sure all the channels are enabled (unmuted) and the PCM slider bar is turned all the way up does not solve the issue, be sure to visit the link given by beyondsunset here, although it is somewhat dated.

Thanks for the response mate but still nothing.

About the xampp problem - i managed to install it but when i try to start apache i get the following message:

"Another web server daemon is already running."

I thought the port it's trying to listen is busy (because i had the same problem in Windows), and changed it from the httpd.conf file but it's still the same.
