Doing what we can to keep Spammers out of KFN

Running a forum; any forum; comes with the constant problem of dealing with spammers. KFN is no exception.

Kubuntu Forums is all about our members. When a spammer makes it in and litters our forums with garbage, they create extra work on the Administrators and 'offend' our regular members. We have tried to keep spammers from gaining accounts through our registration process. However, spammers are a clever lot, and it doesn't take long before they find out how to circumvent our defenses.

Therefore, this morning, May 12, 2012, I have enabled Moderate New Members.

At long last...behold!

For the new folks joining KFN, here's the history behind me trying to get Linux -- any Linux -- to run on this goofy tablet. Finally!

Filter Forums by Thread Prefix

Now you can filter forums by thread prefixes, for those forums that are set up to use them.

Thread prefixes are now 'clickable'. The first time you click on a thread prefix, the forum is filtered to show only threads with that prefix. The second time you click on the thread prefix, the forum returns to an unfiltered state.

As of March 19, 2012, members who want to help support KFN financially can do so with a Paid Subscription. This is completely voluntary, and membership in KFN continues to be free. But for those who find KFN to be a resource worth supporting, and want to help, now you can.

When you are logged in, click on Settings to go to your User Control Panel. Scroll down and click on Paid Subscriptions. We have seven subscription levels:

Kubuntu 12.04 to be Supported for 5 Years

The Kubuntu Community is pleased to announce plans for the 12.04 LTS release of Kubuntu. As approved by the Ubuntu Technical Board on January 9th, 12.04 will be a 5-year long-term support cycle for Kubuntu.
